With the move from Twitter over to Bluesky, my new social media account has been "discovered" and followed by 250+ people in less than a month! 🤯
Thanks to @sliverbaer.bsky.social and others on the platform for adding me to their starter packs! 💙
Starter packs are really cool and super powerful -- more on this later...
So far, I'm enjoying Bluesky and the general vibe there! Join us!
This week, I decided to try launching a new weekly form of recap/highlight on social media.
I didn't make individual posts throughout the week to share every time I published a model to MakerWorld, so to round up the week's uploads, I decided to simply take a screenshot of my latest model listings and share that as a post on Bluesky (and links/variations on Twitter, Threads, IG and YT).
Realizing the last five were from this week -- some fun, some functional -- and it was a Friday, I went into alliteration mode 😜
Wanting to invite others to join in to share their choice of five models, I started the hashtag #shareyourfive
So far, a few designers have joined in and highlighted their top 5 models. Pretty neat that I've been able to connect with some new-to-me designers!
This first #shareyourfive Friday, I shared my five latest uploads to MakerWorld while others shared their five models they wanted to showcase.
Maybe other times, I can share my five favorite models I designed or even share my five favorite models from other designers! 🤷🏻♀️
So many options!
How will this evolve? I don't know.
I think I just need to focus on making this a consistent Friday habit for now -- let's check back in after, say, five weeks? :) That'll be on Friday the 13th!
Back to starter packs...it's an awesome concept that is working very well on Bluesky to help connect people with others. It's an easy way for a new user to discover relevant accounts to follow.
Every user can curate starter packs of users for others to follow (Example: "3D Printing" starter pack)
There are so many good ones out there already. I still have to figure out what Bluesky starter packs would make sense for me to create...maybe super niche ones would be best?
I decided to take the starter pack concept to another platform -- it's a bit of a hack, but it can still work.
In efforts to help users on MakerWorld connect with others, I've started a collection called "3D Designers Starter Pack" -- it is open for any designer to have one of their models featured.
DESIGNERS: DM me on MakerWorld with a link to the model you would like featured in the starter pack.
